EGYPT: COUNTING THE CARNAGE IN “PEACEFUL” PROTESTS

7/1/13

A few days ago, I wrote about Sunday’s then upcoming protests in Egypt (EGYPT AND MR. MASLOW, 6/2/13).   This morning’s Wall Street Journal (“Widespread Opposition Protests Grip Egypt, 7/1/13, page A7) reported on Sunday’s activities, which turned out to be not as tumultuous as feared…

Although the main protests remained peaceful, the nation’s Health Ministry said five people were killed and more than 400 injured around the country, the Associated Press reported.

Meanwhile, Muslim Brotherhood headquarters in Cairo were set ablaze.  People inside the buildings were seen firing at protesters.

400 injured, five killed, party headquarters being set ablaze as people inside fire on protesters.   This is what passes for “peaceful” protests in the new, democratic Egypt that the western media, politicians, and intelligentsia have foisted on the long suffering Egyptian people.   And, one supposes, “only” 5 dead, 400 injured, and shots being fired out of building set ablaze is what passes for “peaceful” protests in much of what we used to call the Third World.

Just thank God we live in America.
